Opportunity:
There is an unmet need for this opportunity within the University of Florida campus and other college campuses. The need is for parking on campus when driving to your designated classes or building. This opportunity will solve the need of easy parking because it will have coordinated parking schedules with the building and the schedule of the student or faculty. This opportunity has been a need for quite some time and the only way that UF is trying to solve it so far is by building more parking garages which is creating parking but not convenient to the students or staff.

Innovation: The service that I will provide a valet system that will help students, faculty, and staff park their cars in an orderly and quick fashion. How it works is valet employees will be stationed at major buildings and will drive the students, faculty, and staffs car to designated parking garages for that specific building. The student or staff member can drive up to the building and give their car over to trained employees to then drive their car to these parking lots. The lots will only allow the cars to stay for the amount of time the class is or for how long the staff member is working this will be enforced by a decal that will have the times allotted based on your schedule. The price in order to use this service would cost approximately 100$ which will replace the decal that is purchase now for 80$ a semester.

Venture Concept: I believe that this innovation will be a success and people will buy it because people already buy the parking decals that don’t guarantee parking whereas this decal will. This decal will not only guarantee parking but it will provide a service that will park it for you which will eliminate the hassle or parking and eliminate the hassle of walking to your class wherever you were able to park your car which can sometimes be miles away. I do not believe it will be hard for people to switch because it is the same service where they have a decal to park on campus but the decal also provides a valet service.

3 minor elements

1.     I believe what makes this service so unique and has its own ‘secret sauce’ is that you are able to drive up to the designated building and be able to give your car to someone so they can park. This is my secrete sauce because no other campus or school is doing that and this is will provide a much easier form of transportation to school without the hassle and worry of parking.
2.     A new product or service that could go along with this would be some sort of app that could track whether or not the valet service is busy and will also track who is ready at the building to pick up your car. This app will also provide the information of who is driving your car and where your car is located if you do not want assistance retrieving your car after your class.
3.     In the next 5 years I would like this product to have grown nationwide where I have allowed others to also have a similar service on campus. Once this is up and running I will allow someone else to take over the business while I make a small profit from it being a significant shareholder. I then will try to pursue a different market in something else.

I I chose this photo cause it shows a creative group coming up with abstract and creative ideas. I believe this group is like our class and we have learned to think more creatively because of all of the assignments about us constantly working and developing our product.

Comments

  1. Hey Alex, I thought that your idea is a great idea especially around parking on campus, as there are only so many spots available on campus at one time. A good idea to consider would be to have the app message the valet service to bring your car around ahead of time before you reach the garage as well, as that could be a nice inclusion to your service. Also, I thought that the price was a bit iffy to me personally, as you are charging more for this service than you are for the decals, which are already pretty expensive as it is, but it might be a good idea to maybe lower the price a bit as well to not only make it more affordable than the decal, but also bring newer customers who do not have the decal.
